York Water Tower

Welcome to the City of York, Nebraska!
We look forward to talking to you about how to grow your business or start your business here.

A Prime Location for Customers and Workforce
York sits at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 81.  This prime location draws many customers and makes it easy for York businesses to draw workforce from several surrounding towns.

Partnerships for Business Success and Thriving Families
The city partners with our county development association, York County Development Corporation, to make expansion, start up or relocation in York positive for business, employees and their families.  We also partner with the York Chamber of Commerce to support existing businesses and young professionals in the community.

The city and York Public Schools formed a unique partnership that pulls $.05 of sales tax funds to funding for recreation and supporting infrastructure. As a result, the city excels in recreation and educational amenities. From high quality tracks, tennis courts and state of the art theater lights to a new tot park and splash pad, the city and the schools work hard to create a high quality of life for our families.  In addition to a large park system and a Parks and Department that offers extensive programming, amenities include a 4 acre dog park, concrete skate park, 8' wide hike/bike trail, heated outdoor aquatic center and a community center building with an indoor pool, workout room, and kids play area.

The community has pulled together to bring an all-inclusive playground, the Payton-Parker-Lane Playground to the city.  Construction on the playground and inclusive bathrooms begins in the spring of 2022.

 Vibrant Business Community
Several manufacturing and agribusiness companies have headquarters and plants in York including Central Valley Ag, Champion Homes and seed corn giants Bayer and Corteva. We also have home-grown industries like Cyclonaire and York Cold Storage. One of our newest, McLean Beef, operates a farm to table beef operation with a store front restaurant in town. The interstate intersection location provides opportunities for hospitality industries including several hotels and restaurants that do a thriving business.
Downtown businesses recently completed two rounds of revitalization grants and now are working on the third.  The refreshed look of the buildings gives the downtown area a new charm. Although businesses occupy most store fronts, some remain available for new businesses.
