Accident Reports
If you were involved in an accident in the city of York, a copy of the Investigator's Motor Vehicle Accident Report is available for a charge of $10.00. There is no charge for a copy of the driver exchange information.
A report may be obtained:

Reports may be sent via mail, email, or fax upon request.
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 27, 2021: With the passage of Nebraska legislative bill 174, motor vehicle collision reports can be obtained through the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Copies of all traffic accidents investigated by the York Police Department will be obtained through one of the following:
- Online: Buy accident reports on NDOT Storefront
- In Person: Highway Safety Office, 1500 Highway 2-Room 14, Lincoln, NE
- By Mail: Call 402-479-4645 to find out the correct tax before requesting a report by mail.
If you are a motorist involved in a reportable accident, you are no longer required to complete a Driver’s Motor Vehicle Accident Report within 10 days of the accident when investigated by law enforcement. However these forms can be obtained at the police department or online. The online form should be printed, filled out, and mailed to the address in red found on the top of the form.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation now offers the option to complete the Driver's Motor Vehicle Accident Report online. This option does not require printing or mailing of any forms.
